Q&A session with Kazandra Holm Muller

How did you arrive at Cissy's pet name?
She was called Cissy as pet name, when I found her and then she got her last name (Manytoes) because of the many toes. Kit have never put the P. in the name to tell, that the cat is a poly, but this way everybody that knows about her poly paws anyway ;o)

Are there any special reasons why you specifically selected her?
I was looking for a breeding poly girl, that also had some other breeding lines, that we normally see in Denmark.
I found a wonderful poly on an other website, that let me to Coonmountain’s website. Then I the way to Atlanta USA to pick up Cissy and her half-sister Becky Bigfoot one September morning in 2004.
They were wonderful and it was a nice trip home and they just moved in from the first moment. Cissy has a wonderful temper and is a sweet, sweet girl.

Can you tell us a little bit about Cissy's toe configuration?
Cissy have what is called a snowshoe paw. All the toes are sitting beside each other and make like a big snowshoe. And on the hind paws it is just a big wide paw ;o)
Cissy have both maked kittens with the snowshoe paws and with the thumb poly paw.

What do you like about having a polydactyl cat?
I just love them ;o) I love the big paws, I love the temper and the sweetness. There are something special about them, that is hard to put in words.
I like them most for the great pets they are. Then I like them in my breeding program, because they always have been a part of the Maine Coon breed and deserve to be preserved in the breed.
Then I like them because they are full of fun. It is like they know they are special and because of that will get away with it, no matter what they do ;o)

Are there many Maine Coon Polydactyl Cats in the Denmark?
There are coming more and more. They have been here for many years, but the last couple of years, there are coming more of the poly’s.

What sort of reaction do you get generally from people in Denmark about having a Maine Coon Polydcatyl Cat?
For the most it is just positive. They LOVE the big paws. Many of the people that come and buy a pet kitten for the first time and see the poly paws, come back for “one of those with big paws”. They find them wonderful and special, and just have to have one.
I have only heard one say that it look deformed and it was wrong to breed with it.

What are your favourite things about Cissy?
Ohh, there are so many things …
I love her sweet, sweet temper. She is rolling around of joy nearly just when you look at her. She have the most beautiful green eyes with so most to tell, when you look into them. She have a wonderful soft and long fur and beautiful colours. She is just one of those, that always will stay here, unless I am forced to let go of her. She is my precious girl …
